DeepSea Challenger vs. Trieste

Here’s an article I found on the NatGeo site about James Cameron‘s dive to the Mariana Trench (sometime this year). His voyage is compared to that of U.S. Navy Lt. Don Walsh and Swiss oceanographer and engineer Jacques Piccard on January 23, 1960. Cameron plans to take rock samples, as well as pictures of the poorly explored region. Exploring the activity along the tectonic plates could give more explanation to earthquakes. Any, as yet, undiscovered organisms that can survive at such depths under intense pressure and zero light, could result in new medicines and technologies.
